Non-sexual or heterosexual fan fiction does exist, but it does not have the same appeal to both the straight and gay audience as the alternative fan fiction, which generates the most traffic. For the purpose and focus of this dissertation, I will be looking exclusively at alternative fan fiction which sees romantic potential between Xena and Gabrielle.
